Job Description:
Software Engineer – Inspection Technology
A specialist engineering business in Oxfordshire is hiring a Software Engineer for its in-house development team. The company builds and runs sensor-based inspection systems that help operators of major infrastructure, in the UK and overseas, understand the condition of their assets. All of the software behind those systems is written in-house, so the code this team produces is used on real projects every day.
The engineer will work across the whole platform rather than in one corner of it. Some days that means software that controls hardware and captures data in real time. Other days it could be the browser-based tools used to monitor data collection as it happens, or the backend services that store processed data and deliver it to clients. The team is small, so the successful candidate will have a real say in the product. They will also work closely with the field engineers who use the systems, and help resolve problems reported from live deployments.
C# is the main language throughout, with some C and C++ lower down where the software talks to the hardware. The web side is built with ASP.NET Core and TypeScript, and the data side with SQL Server. Nobody is expected to know every part of the stack on day one. Solid C# and a willingness to pick up the rest count for more.
Requirements:
- Strong C# and .NET experience, ideally in multi-threaded or real-time applications
- Good knowledge of ASP.NET Core and relational databases
