Location: Oxford, OX4
Salary: £105-£120 per day, depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:15am-3:30pm
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

We are currently recruiting for a SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive alternative provision setting in Oxford (OX4), working with young people who require a more personalised and nurturing approach to education.

The school provides education for young people of secondary school age who may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education.

The setting offers a structured, supportive and nurturing environment, with a strong focus on helping students develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Students may have a range of SEN and SEMH needs, including difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour, communication, social interaction and engagement with education.

The school takes a student-centred approach, working to build positive relationships, develop confidence and help young people make progress towards their individual goals.

As a SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting students both academically and pastorally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students aged 11-16 with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support.
• Supporting students within lessons and around the school.
• Helping students manage emotions and regulate their behaviour.
• Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Supporting students who may display challenging behaviour.
• Helping students develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Working alongside teachers and other support staff.
• Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
• Helping to maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment.

Previous experience working with SEN, SEMH, challenging behaviour, alternative provision, youth work, residential care or education would be advantageous.

However, we are also interested in candidates with strong transferable experience and the right attitude, even if they have not previously worked as a Teaching Assistant.
