Your new company
An established and highly regarded organisation based in Oxford is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join its small, collaborative finance team.
This is a broad and varied position offering considerable exposure across the finance function. It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of day-to-day finance while working closely with a Financial Controller.

Your new role
As Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for a wide range of accounting and financial processes, including:

• Preparing month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Reviewing payment runs, bank reconciliations and accounting entries
• Supporting accounts payable and sales invoicing
• Preparing VAT returns and other external/statutory returns
• Managing and reviewing payroll processes
• Overseeing billing, payments and debtor processes
• Supporting the annual audit and liaising with external auditors
• Assisting with departmental reporting and management accounts
• Supporting banking, credit card and payment administration
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and controls

The position provides an excellent opportunity to develop broader finance experience within a small team where you can make a visible contribution.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail, alongside experience of working within a finance environment. Previous experience preparing VAT returns is essential, as are good Excel skills and the ability to pick up new finance systems quickly.

You will be comfortable managing your own workload, meeting deadlines and working as part of a small team.

A recognised accounting qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience within a charity, education or similarly complex organisation would also be beneficial.
